Sally Khalil is a Lebanese qualified lawyer, since 2022. Sally joined HMCo in June 2024 as part of the Finance Practice Team, based in our Dubai Office.
Prior to joining HMCo, Sally worked with a tier 1 law firm in the region.
With almost 4 years of experience in the Middle East region, Sally’s principal area of expertise is in the corporate and commercial fields of the law. She is most notably specialized in banking & finance, financial instruments, venture capital and private equity financing, M&A, company restructuring, corporate governance, cross-border transactions, in addition to providing business-oriented legal advice on a wide range of matters across the region.
Academic profile:
- Bachelor of Laws with a joint Master in Business Law from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.
Provided general legal assistance to multinational companies from Lebanese and Qatari law perspectives, including drafting agreements and advising on various legal areas.
Represented leading companies in advisory work and ADR for distribution, commercial representation, franchising, employment, IP protection, and corporate tax.
Advised Big Four firms on Lebanese legal matters, including corporate documents, employee issues, data privacy, and new laws.
Provided legal and regulatory counsel to a FIFA World Cup 2022 sponsor regarding sponsorship and operations in Qatar.
Supported global medical equipment providers with legal issues and ADR, focusing on employment and distribution.
Assisted a leading oil company with corporate work, data privacy requirements, and legal proceedings in civil and criminal courts.
Assisted in the multi-jurisdictional acquisition of a retail franchise business in the MENA region, conducting legal due diligence for over 20 entities.
Assisted in providing advice to various local, regional and international banks, in regulatory banking and finance matters for Lebanon and Qatar loan agreements and ISDA agreements.
Assisted within the context of the review and advice from a Lebanese law perspective in relation to bonds, convertible bonds, and sovereign treasury bills in Lebanon, and supported the promotion, distribution, and sale of securities and financial instruments.
Assisted in advising international banks on various legal documentation, including finance agreements and security agreements for financial facility transactions in Lebanon and Qatar.
Participated in assisting the European Investment Bank (EIB) with respect to Lebanon-related questions, addressing local risks around capital controls, risks associated with opening bank accounts in Lebanon, and the potential measures to formalize informal capital control restrictions
