Kenan is an Australian-qualified lawyer who has recently joined Hammad & Al-Mehdar as an Associate. Prior to this, he received his training as a law graduate at a Sydney-based law firm focusing on commercial litigation, where he gained experience in commercial dispute resolution, drafting pleadings, and legal risk management. Kenan also has experience with Baker & McKenzie, where he assisted both Corporate and Arbitration Practices.


With a background in commercial law, economics, finance, and regulation and compliance Kenan brings a wealth of experience combined with strong analytical and legal skills, making him a valuable addition to the firm’s Finance Practice.



  • Admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Sydney, Australia.
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Economics with First Class Honours from the University of Melbourne.
  • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law, Sydney.

  • Conducted legal research and drafted pleadings for commercial disputes, including statements of claim, defences, and cross-claims.
  • Assisted in drafting disclosure letters for corporate transactions and conducted legal research for arbitration cases, including the recognition and enforcement of foreign decisions in the UAE.
  • Facilitated company incorporations and deregistration with the appropriate local authorities.
  • Conducted market entry research for corporate clients in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
  • Designed and updated comprehensive compliance monitoring programs for various departments, including brokerage, finance, investment banking, margin financing, and REITs, during a traineeship at Aljazira Capital.
  • Evaluated mutual funds data to ensure compliance with the Capital Market Authority and Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) regulations.
  • Translated compliance programs from Arabic to English and created standardized programs to simplify the auditing process.
  • Assisted in preparing legal due diligence reports and researched legal topics in facilitation of financial transactions during an internship at Hammad & Al-Mehdar Law Firm in Dubai.
  • Co-prepared a study on seed accelerators and undertook a capital restructuring case, gaining exposure to corporate finance and restructuring matters.
